About

Chuan Wang is the daughter of two cultures. She lived the first 11 years of her life in southern China, before immigrating to Canada. The blend of Western and Eastern cultures has influenced her personality, lifestyle and ultimately the design language of her work. Chuan has pursued a creative career since an early age, which brought her to Emily Carr University of Art and Design. There she learned the fundamentals of design and discovered her love for crafting environments and experiences. Honing in on her passion, Chuan decided to transfer to Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, where she enrolled in the Environmental Design program. Art Center provided Chuan with the opportunity to flex her design muscles in the real world, and her designs were realized in an exhibit for The Getty Center in Los Angeles, Bikini Berlin in Germany and ICFF in New York. After graduating from Art Center in 2014, she continues to pursue her passions of hospitality and residential design in Yabu Pushelberg and later Rockwell Group.

Chuan’s design focus is on comfort and practicality brought to life through subtlety and details, She tackles design with a problem-solving mindset. For Chuan, designing is the act of discovering and satisfying the specific needs of each challenge. She strives to better understand people’s needs and desires so as to create spaces that they cherish and crave.
